Again, another year of many new faces for the team. John and the two Chris' joined in the back line, Brando, Kats and Rich in the mid, and Paul, Scott and Alan came in quite often in the front line. Ben joined us in the keeper's box when Trevor's mouth got too tired to play. Later in the season, Cho and Chirstiano joined and inserted fresh legs to the team in the later part of the season. We had a rough start, losing many games, often in the last few minutes, but toward the middle part of the season, we began to gel more effectively pulled off some wins and made our way up the table. Though late in the season, Cho took the Ken Evans award for more serious injury when his jaw was broken in one of the nastiest games we've experienced. This game against Juan De Fuca involved a police file.

Fernwood United - 2005 - 2006 - Division 6 Champions

Carlos Serra (coach), Steve Evans (Asst Coach), Andrew Christoffersen, Will "The Juice" Hartenberger, Bill Farrant, Jesse Beaudin, Trevor Thors, Rob Fleming, James Haid, Tom Harding, Efren Bermea, Evan Duly, Bryan Skinner (Mgr), Andrew Khoo, Admiral Edward May (Player/Mgr), Iain Cameron, Dave Booth, Brandon Graham-Knight, Jeff Dean, Flavio Firmani, Steve Russo,

Division 6 Champions! Quite a few new players in our second year changed to look of the team. The backline looked a little diffrent with Brandon, Flavio and Iain being pulled in to join Tom. Our midfield also got a huge facelift with Dave, Jesse, and Jeff joining James, Drew and The Juice. Much needed considering Will was out for most of the season after peeing blood at the end of the first game, taking the Ken Evans award for most dramatic early season injury. Some truly memorable moments this year, from Jesse's "I'm slicin up these fools" comment, to an unexpected winning goal from the Admiral in a cup game and a team record 36 goals from new striker Bill Farrant. A record not likely to be broken any time soon. The season ended with a strong win against the Castaways. The game was cut short, however, when a high kick from Jeff landed on the skull of a ducking Castaway, leading to 5 stitches.

Fernwood United's first year developed out of a Slacker Soccer pick up game played in the summer. Though there were some really, really old league veterans like Ken Evans and his domesticated brother Steve, most players were fresh, and afraid to make the hard tackles. That changed about mid season, by which time referees told us they knew we were a rough team and they would be watching out for our fouls. Players like Russo and bradley were particularily effective in harrassing the other team. Steve Evans got a yellow and then an immediate red in a cup game against Simba to run away with the ribbon for worst offence, while brother ken, taking himself out of league soccer for life with a busted knee in the first game of the season took the award for earliest serious injury. The annual award has now been named after him. Thanks so much to Logan's Pub, our first year out we looked good in great jerseys. We finished 8th, but many of our losses were close, and we could see a contending team was in the making.
